PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that at its regular board meeting on October 8, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. in the Shoreview City Council Chambers, 4600 North Victoria Street, Shoreview, Minnesota, the Rice Creek Watershed District (RCWD) Board of Managers will receive public comment under Minnesota Statutes 103B.251 on the ordering of the City of Circle Pines, Golden Lake Phosphorous Load Reduction Demonstration Project. The RCWD’s share of cost for the project is estimated not to exceed $50,000 and would be funded by general tax levy on real property within the watershed.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that at its regular board meeting on September 10, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. in the Shoreview City Council Chambers, 4600 North Victoria Street, Shoreview, Minnesota, the Rice Creek Watershed District Board of Managers will receive public comment under Minnesota Statutes 103E.805 on Rehbein Companies’ proposal for partial abandonment and realignment of Anoka County Ditch 53-62 on property owned by Rehbein Companies. The engineer’s report will be available September 5, 2008, and the petition is attached below or can be view at the District office.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Rice Creek Watershed District Board of Managers has scheduled a special meeting on August 27, 2008, following the regular 9 a.m. Board meeting in the Upper Conference Room (behind the Chambers) at Shoreview City Hall, 4600 North Victoria Street, Shoreview, Minnesota. The Board intends to convene in closed session for a performance review of the District Administrator.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE That the Rice Creek Watershed District Board of Managers has scheduled a public hearing to discuss the 2009 proposed budget on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. in the Shoreview City Hall Council Chambers, 4600 North Victoria Street, Shoreview, Minnesota. The proposed 2009 budget is $3,941,479. The proposed total levy for the District is $3,712,979 which would be a 2.3% difference from 2008.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE That the Rice Creek Watershed District Board of Managers has scheduled a workshop meeting on August 11, 2008, noon-2 p.m. in the Conference Room of Rice Creek Watershed District office, 4325 Pheasant Ridge Drive NE #611, Blaine, MN. The Board will be discussing the 2009 preliminary budget, draft employee handbook, and administrator’s review. No Board action will be taken.

Peltier, Centerville, and the Rice Creek “Chain of Lakes” (George Watch, Marshan, Reshanau, Rice, and Baldwin Lakes) are listed as “Impaired” by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. The impairments have been caused by excessive amounts of nutrients (phosphorus) in the water. A Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) study has been developed to address the excess nutrient levels; this meeting will review the study. We will discuss the sources of nutrients to the lakes, and our strategy for addressing these sources.

The Board will be discussing the Water Management Plan Update. No Board action will be taken.
